Imagine an app on your phone that keeps crashing.
You delete it and reinstall it. You update to the latest version. You restart the phone, clear the cache, free up storage space. You do everything the troubleshooting guide tells you to do. And every single time, the app crashes again — usually at the exact same moment, in the exact same way.
It’s maddening. Because you’re doing everything right. You’re following every step. And nothing is working.
That’s exactly what happens when you keep getting stuck despite doing all the right things.
You’ve read the books. You’ve watched the videos, hired the coaches, done the journaling, set the intentions. Maybe you’ve even been to therapy for years. And still — the same patterns keep showing up. The same hesitation before a big opportunity. The same voice that talks you out of taking the next step.
If this sounds familiar, you’ve probably thought: What is wrong with me? Why can’t I just do this?
Here’s what I want you to know: nothing is wrong with you. You’ve been working incredibly hard. You just haven’t been working at the right level.
The equation that crashes every time
Most personal development is built on an assumption that sounds completely reasonable:
Information + Motivation = Change
Read enough. Want it badly enough. And you’ll get there.
So you read more. You watch more videos. You find a new coach. You surround yourself with people who inspire you. And for a while, it feels like it might work this time.
Then it doesn’t.
And when it doesn’t, the story you tell yourself is usually some version of I’m not disciplined enough or I just don’t want it badly enough. You blame yourself. You wonder if you’re the one person who’s just too broken to figure this out.
But here’s what’s actually happening.
What’s actually blocking you
Information and motivation matter. They’re part of the equation. But by themselves, they can’t get past the one thing that’s actually blocking you.
The real blocker is your beliefs.
A belief is a statement about reality that the mind treats as the truth. Beliefs like I’m not good enough, I’m not important, or mistakes and failures are bad don’t sit on the surface where logic and willpower can reach them. They operate underneath — quietly shaping what feels possible, what you reach for, and what you unconsciously avoid.
And here’s the thing about beliefs: they’re immune to information.
You can know, intellectually, that you’re capable. You can have every credential that says so. You can have people in your corner who believe in you. But if the mind is running a belief that says otherwise, it will find a way to reinterpret every new piece of evidence to confirm what it already believes is true.
This is why affirmations don’t work for most people. Standing in front of the mirror saying I’m good enough over and over again doesn’t eliminate the belief that you’re not. It’s like trying to add something to a container that’s already full.
The correct equation isn’t information plus motivation.
It’s this: Information + Motivation − Limiting Beliefs = Real Change
When you remove the beliefs that are blocking you, the information you already have finally has somewhere to land. The motivation you already feel finally has somewhere to go.
What this looks like in real life
We worked with a client named Frumi who wanted to grow her coaching business. She had the expertise. She had the drive. But every time visibility was required, something stopped her cold. Speaking engagements. Putting herself out there. Being seen.
“I was terrified of speaking in public,” she told us. “I couldn’t think straight. My mind just froze.”
Frumi had tried to push through the fear. She’d tried to reason with it. The fear had nothing to do with public speaking technique. It ran deeper — rooted in beliefs she’d formed earlier in life, beliefs that made being seen feel dangerous.
We worked together to uncover and eliminate the hidden beliefs that triggered her fear.
The very next day, she spoke for three hours at Cal State Long Beach. She felt no fear at all. She has since built a thriving business and published two books, one of which, A CEO’s Secret Weapon, includes a foreword by Simon Sinek.
You haven’t been failing. You’ve been working at the wrong level.
Think back to that crashing app. The problem was never your effort. It was never the steps you were following. It was a corrupted file running in the background that no update could reach. So you bring the phone to the shop. The technician finds the file and deletes it. And just like that, the app runs fine. That’s what it looks like to work at the level of beliefs. Find the file. Remove it. And what was blocking you simply isn’t there anymore.
The Income Breakthrough Sessions
If this idea resonates with you — if you’re a coach, consultant, or entrepreneur who’s been doing all the right things but still feels blocked when it comes to growing your income — I’d love to talk.
We work specifically with people like you to identify what behaviors are holding back your growth, and then trace those behaviors back to the exact beliefs that are driving them. Once those beliefs are gone, the path forward opens up.
