How to have more possibilities and opportunities than most people
Last week I reminded you that dissolving the meaning we give events all day long will virtually stop your negative feelings and stress. Then I gave you a link to a web App that would allow you to do just that whenever you noticed a negative feeling. If you have a hard time believing that merely dissolving meaning will totally eliminate stress, read what Rob Shapiro, an emergency room doctor, wrote me just a couple of weeks ago about his experience of dissolving meaning: … all stress experienced by my body and mind at my job had been completely eliminated. [...]
You need unreasonable goals
How do we usually create a goal, personal or business? We take a look at what we’ve been able to do in the past and then either shoot for the same result or add a reasonable amount to it (like a 20% increase) and make that our goal. If we have a good strategy and the circumstances haven’t changed very much, we have a good chance to reaching our new goal. If you are satisfied with incremental improvements, this strategy might work, unless the circumstances have changed (which, in today’s world, is very likely). But what can you do if [...]
Create your ideal future
What we imagine our future to be is usually based on our past. In other words, we use our experience of the past to determine what's possible for us in the future and then to create goals for the future. That approach limits our possible future to our experiences in the past. For example, if we’ve tried to create something in the past, be it a new relationship, a new business, or a new job, and we failed whenever we tried, we would likely not set similar goals in the future. Our future is not determined by our past, but [...]
How Can I Help You?
I’ve spent the last few days experiencing extreme gratitude for my healing (see note below for details on my health condition). That gratitude led me to wonder what I could do to support you, my readers. What could I write about, what could I offer you, what could I do for you to express my love and appreciation for your support of me? And not just those of you who took the time to write me: What could I do to express the deep love I feel for each one of you? Each week I try to provide some useful [...]
What I just learned will transform my life … and yours
I’m writing this from New Mexico just before I leave my bi-annual meeting of the Transformational Leadership Council (TLC). Jack Canfield, the co-author of the Chicken Soup books, created this organization for transformational leaders (workshop leaders, authors, owners of organizations dedicated to transformation, etc.) such as John Gray, New York Times best-selling authors Marci Shimoff and Lisa Nichols, Rev. Michael Beckwith, and about 100 more. It is a place where people who have committed their lives to empowering others get supported and nourished. I am honored to have been a founding member about five years ago. The two five-day meetings [...]
You Create Your Experience of Reality
When you realize that you never saw your beliefs in the world, that you only saw events that had no inherent meaning, it becomes clear that you create your beliefs—and, ultimately, reality as you experience it. Thus, everything we say is “out there”—other than what we sense (in other words, what we touch, see, hear, smell, or taste)—is a distinction we create that exists only in our mind. Creation is the act of making distinctions For example, you walk down the street and think you actually see “men” and “women,” when you actually only perceive what we have defined as [...]
Why Should I Eliminate A Belief?
Every once in a while after someone asks me what I do and I reply, “I help people eliminate beliefs,” I am asked: “Why would I want to eliminate a belief?” There are at least good four answers to that question, which I will describe in this blog post. If you would like to improve the quality of your life and increase your range of possibilities, I think you will find this discussion very useful. 1. Virtually all the problems you have in life, behavioral or emotional, stem mainly from your beliefs (and sometimes some conditioning). So if you want [...]
How To Create New Possibilities In Your Life
Some people are convinced we create our own reality by focusing on what we desire with strong emotion. Others are just as convinced that that idea is New Age nonsense. But regardless of which position is valid, it is unquestionably true that we literally create new possibilities in our lives—a brand new reality—by eliminating limiting beliefs. Let me give you an example. Assume you had the beliefs: I’m not loveable. Relationships don’t work. Men/women can’t be trusted. With these beliefs, what are the possibilities that you could have a really good, nurturing, long-term romantic relationship? … Slim to nil, right? [...]
