Certification Program Update 2018
Next week I’ll be opening the doors for two more people to join the CLMF program.
The CLMF program solves a problem that some trainees have.
“I may be making mistakes. I have no idea what they are and how to fix them.”
This may show up in having more challenging clients than you’d expect. Or when using certain processes and noticing they don’t go as smoothly as you’d like.
In the CLMF program we show you your strengths and weaknesses and help you create a plan for improvement. By the end you will be a far more effective facilitator.
Just to be clear, this is not a rubber-stamp certification.
Some certification programs are really training programs in which everyone who completes the program gets certified on a specified date and time. In such training programs, certification is given to all participants no matter how effective they are. Our program is different in that we make sure you have achieved excellence as a facilitator before we grant you certification.
To get certified you have to meet specific criteria. Here’s a document that shows the criteria.
Some questions you may have:
How long does it take to complete certification?
It will take a minimum of three months but we’ve had people take up to 9 months to complete certification. We’ve since then created far more effective ways of giving you feedback so you may take less time.
Are there any additional costs?
No.
How much time does it take per week?
If you’re already doing sessions with clients regularly, then the only additional time will be the time it takes for you to send us a recording and to read our feedback.
Will I have to do things that don’t make sense to get certified?
When I was a public school teacher, I remember having to fill out lesson forms that I would never use just to meet some administrator’s demands. We don’t do that. Our criteria is based on what is effective for your clients. If you do something differently than we do it, and it actually works then that’s fine. But if you do something the way we do it but in such a manner that it doesn’t work, then we’ll give you feedback on that so you can improve.
Persistence guarantee
If you do everything we ask including exercises and assignments we give you, we promise that we will stick with you until you learn the skills to be an effective facilitator and get certified. We are confident that we can help anyone who passes through our screening to become an effective facilitator. If we have any doubts about that, we won’t let you into the program in the first place.
Our secret to accelerating your learning
During the past year, we learned a lot about how to help people achieve excellence as facilitators. One thing we learned is the power of a simple tool – the transcript.
We give you a transcript with annotated feedback to make sure we catch everything you say that can be improved in your sessions.
In some certification programs, when feedback is given, it’s often global, spoken feedback. It’s a lot harder to pick out exact words and phrases that aren’t working.
This is why we make a transcript and post comments directly to it. It allows us to show you exactly what you’re saying and doing that can be improved and it dramatically speeds up your learning.
When can I join the CLMF program?
We will open the CLMF program next week on October 23rd.
You can send in your first recorded session on November 6.
