Morty Misses You

One of the most joyous things that Morty does is write his blogs.  He loves thinking about how he can come up with new ideas, distinctions and processes that will make a difference in your lives.  He reads, thinks, and is always dedicated to consistently contributing so that your lives can be freer.   It is obvious to all of you who loyally read his blog that he hasn’t written in awhile.  So I am writing to fill you in.   Morty has had a return of lymphoma and it hit pretty hard this time.  His hemoglobin is very low and so he [...]

Of course I worry about what others think. Doesn’t everyone?

One of the most devastating problems people have is so common that nearly everybody views it as “human nature.” Few people even try to get rid of this ever-present problem because they assume it’s part of the “human condition.” What is this ubiquitous problem? Constantly worrying about what others think and frequently doing things just to get people’s approval. How you know if you have the problem How do you know if you are one of the tens of millions of people who have this problem? Do you often walk away from people thinking, “Did I say the right thing?” [...]

Beliefs are as important as biochemistry in addictions

For 30 years I have been contending that unlearning beliefs will change behavior, including addictive behavior. Despite the fact that many thousands of people have made radical behavioral changes as a result of eliminating beliefs, I continue to get emails from people who state: “There is clear scientific evidence that addictions are biophysical. They are the result of chemical responses and conditionings. Getting rid of a few beliefs can’t possibly cure addictions.” Well, a recent scientific study concluded, "… cognitive beliefs could be as potent as pharmacological interventions in terms of modifying biophysical processes in the brain and changing behavior [...]

You can’t deal effectively with reality if you don’t know what it is

If you’ve been reading my recent blogs you learned that one benefit of dissolving your occurrings (the meanings you assign to the countless events that you encounter daily) is getting rid of virtually all your negative feelings and emotional stress. I then wrote about another benefit: creating possibilities that didn’t exist for you before. Today I want to explain a third benefit of dissolving occurrings, one that is at least as important as the first two: Dissolving your occurrings enables you to deal with “what is,” instead of an imagined “what is” that has meaning (usually negative) attached. That enables [...]

Reach your audacious goals as
easily as your “normal” goals

As I’ve been teaching people how to engage in Possibilities Thinking™ (the Steve Jobs mindset that sees possibilities where others see limitations), I had an insight I’d like to share with you.   Most of our goals can be reached by doing what we've already been doing … plus a little bit more, a little bit better and a little bit faster. Some goals, however, seem impossible; nothing we’ve ever done in the past is likely to be sufficient to reach them. What if we could become as effective in reaching these “impossible” goals as we already are in reaching our [...]

Much More is Possible than You Think

There are things you don’t know that you don’t know. And that fact, perhaps more than any other single thing, is keeping you from having the best life you could possibly have. If that sounds a bit confusing, please let me explain. When we don’t know and want to know When people know they don’t know something and they want to know about that something, they learn about it. So if you know that your relationships could be better, that it is possible stop worrying about the opinions of others, and that it is possible to eliminate the beliefs that [...]

The future is not a function of the past

A client in my “Year With Morty” course recently reminded me of a principle I usually live out of, but had not thought about consciously for some time. I immediately realized that it was a great topic for a blog post. Here’s the way my client put it: Last year I tripled the revenue from my business. I started to figure out how much more we could increase revenues in 2015 and I suddenly realized that what we did last year really has nothing to do with our revenues this year. This year’s revenues will be a function of what [...]

How to have more possibilities and opportunities than most people

Last week I reminded you that dissolving the meaning we give events all day long will virtually stop your negative feelings and stress. Then I gave you a link to a web App that would allow you to do just that whenever you noticed a negative feeling. If you have a hard time believing that merely dissolving meaning will totally eliminate stress, read what Rob Shapiro, an emergency room doctor, wrote me just a couple of weeks ago about his experience of dissolving meaning: … all stress experienced by my body and mind at my job had been completely eliminated. [...]

Get rid of your upsets in three minutes

It’s finally ready and it’s yours at no charge. For the past few years I’ve been telling you how to dissolve the automatic and unconscious meaning you give events all day long. I’ve explained how doing that will enable you to virtually get rid of your negative emotions, which will stop your stress and emotional suffering. It will take less than three minutes Although I have taught hundreds of people in our Lefkoe Freedom Course how to reduce the frequency of the meaning they attribute to moment-to-moment events from 50+ a day to just several a week, I didn’t have [...]
