There’s “good news” and “bad news” about the many personal growth improvement courses.  The good news is that many of them actually provide information, which, if used, will improve your life.  The bad news is that many of us have beliefs that prevent us from implementing the good advice.

And there’s even worse news: Far too many people who find themselves unable to implement the advice in the course blame themselves.  I’m weak.  I can’t stick with anything.  I’m not good enough.  I’ll never amount to anything. There’s something wrong with me.  Etc.

If this sounds familiar, I’m talking to you: Your inability to take action in the face of your limiting beliefs IS NOT YOUR FAULT.

There is only one thing worse than not getting value from a course because of our beliefs—and that is blaming ourselves for not getting value.

There’s actually more good news, however: You always have the ability to eliminate the beliefs that are stopping you.

Most of us, most of the time, act consistently with our view of reality.  If we believe we’ll never get what we want, or we don’t deserve to get what we want, or we are not inherently able to get what we want, the chances are good that we will never pursue what we want—even if some part of us really wants it and even if we know how to get it.  Our beliefs about reality will sabotage our efforts.

For example, one of our clients came to us complaining that every time she was about to take action on her dreams, she got scared and froze.  She had been beating herself up for years for being so cowardly.  She reported that she had taken a number of courses that told her exactly what to do and how to do it.  She knew exactly what needed to be done to create the business she had dreamed of starting for years.  But she was always stopped by fear.

During our sessions with her she discovered and eliminated a host of negative beliefs.  Some of the self-esteem beliefs included: Mistakes and failure are bad. I’m not good enough.  I’m inadequate.  I‘m powerless. Some of her other relevant beliefs included: I’m not deserving, I’ll never get what I want, life is difficult, the only way to make money is to hurt others, and money is hard to get.

Within days of eliminating the last belief she had taken more action than she had in years.  Within a month she had created the business and was moving forward with the marketing plan that had been gathering dusk on her desk.  During the following months she made good use of all that she had learned in her courses and the business of her dreams was well underway.

So we have a choice: we either can beat ourselves up for not using the material in the courses we’ve purchased, or we can eliminate the beliefs that keep us from taking full advantage of the useful information.

What is your choice?

Great post… Hopefully, a lot can read this and learn to fight their fears and erase all the things that keep them from achieving greater things.

Yes, we have 100% responsibility of our belief system, we have the power to change any limiting beliefs we have about ourselves. After all, we are all Sons of God.

I read this article and as I read “I’m not deserving” I got a shock as I realised this was a belief I had identified years ago and not dealt with. So using your occurring process plus some other techniques (meta-modelling, mind-lines) I got rid of it. Morty, wow. I’ve changed a lot of beliefs but it’s been a while since a change has had such an impact on my motivation. I am now forging forward with great energy and motivation to do things I had previously felt I was wading through tar to move towards. Keep writing brother!

Morty, thanks I have been attempting to try your sample free downloads but can’t seem to get it to work. Can you assist or do I have a belief that I am no good with modern technology?
    Thanks in advance
